Come 2017, I had dropped out of Diploma of Applied Fashion Design & Technology (LMT50307) due to sabotage from an unknown peer, placing my physical folio elsewhere so it couldn’t be marked. I was told repeatedly to hand in my work when I had. After marking had been completed and we were asked to come in and collect our work, I found my folio on the bottom of another classes’ pile of marked folios. The anger I felt about this… I have honestly not recovered from and I’ve been jaded ever since. This destroyed a lot of the passion I had for creating.
I persisted in creative endeavours in spite of this, but I ended up changing paths in terms of career pathways.

Photography

As a means to keep creating, I would go to a range of areas within Victoria and take photos of places that captured my attention – mostly nature and railway focused subjects. These are my top 30 photos taken (in no particular order) from 2017.

Hand sewing

Despite my angst about the outcome of my old course, the experience did ignite a passion I never knew I had – hand sewing. I made a few patches of bands I enjoy and a thinking emoji patch.

Digital collages/edits, illustration, and painting

In addition to the above, I would often go on mobile apps and a free equivalent of Photoshop to work on photo editing. I did some sketching and painting, but not as much as I would’ve liked to due to that creative burnout.
